Instant Background Checks

Background Checks are typically conducted discreetly. By that token, it is sneaky to some degree. How people view the use of background checks to obtain information about someone is a rather individual thing and can vary quite a bit from one person to another. However, there is no denying that this practice is on the uptrend both in business and private.

There are various instances under which background checking has become a standard procedure and effectively accepted as a part of life. Employers, credit officers, landlords, lawyers, business partners and even prospective in-laws are always going to be running people’s background checks. What employers typically look for is to verify the qualifications, experience and licenses of the incumbent as stated in the CV or job interview, Negligent Hiring being the big issue that it has become in human resource operation. Credit or loan officers would be interested to get some idea of the applicant’s payment behavior from his background history. Landlords look out for criminal records so as not to place their property in the hands of bad hats. Lawyers often refer to background checks for information, or ammunition rather, to smear their opponents. Business partners use background checks to determine if they are falling to cheats or crooks. In social or private context, background checks are a protective measure from getting mixed up with potentially bad elements.

The most common purpose of the background check has to be employment background checks, or more specifically pre employment background checks. In most cases, it is basically a matter of cross-checking the information submitted or gathered through write-in applications, job interviews and meetings.

It is also a good idea to conduct a self background check on yourself periodically. By doing this, we can achieve a few things. Firstly, we keep tabs of how we stack up in terms of records. Secondly, we make sure that the records are accurate and that we are not shortchanged. Last but not least, we guard against identity theft.

Anyway, except for special or very private information, everybody’s records are out there. Whether you personally subscribe to the practice of background checking or not, it will continue to propagate.

Babysitting agencies are a great help. Getting a sitter from an agency will give you some assurance that procedures have been followed to ensure that you have a qualified sitter. Different agencies however have different methods and procedures. You would want to be with an agency that can source the best sitters. How do you know that you are with a good agency?

Source of Sitters

Background - Finding out about an agency’s background is a given. Your next step should be finding our exactly where they get their sitters. It would be good if an agency can get sitters from various sources. After all, this is not a question of discriminating against certain places as sources for sitters. It’s about finding out how they screen their applicants.

Your agency should have a service that conduct preliminary checks, investigation and screening. This includes verifying a sitter’s real identity and checking for past records of cases of misdemeanor. Determine how an agency conducts its checks.

Agency Requirements for Sitters

What are the agency’s requirements in accepting sitters? Are sitters required to have certificates in first aid courses? In some cases, sitter applicants aren’t required to have these certificates. This is because not every sitter would have the motivation or resources to take these courses. Some agencies however take it upon themselves to provide learning opportunities. A sitter who is well-versed in emergency response is valuable. You would want a sitter who can respond to emergencies and accidents.

Sitter Matching

Good babysitting agencies shouldn’t just offer you any sitter. They should be able to offer you a sitter who can respond specifically to your needs. Your sitter for example should be able to work well with kids who have the same ages as yours. You may also have special requirements such as sitters being able to cook as well. Find out how an agency will help you find the exact sitter that you need. Some agencies will help you interview their sitters so you can find a good match. Others will interview you personally so they can determine your needs and find a sitter who fits.

Agency Guarantees

Your agency should have some form of guarantee. Products typically have money back guarantees. Agencies on the other hand have guarantees for replacements. This is important because there will be instances when your sitter will be unable to come in. It is also quite possible that you may not be satisfied with your sitter and would like a replacement. Will your agency replace a sitter at no extra cost?

Cost

As with everything else, the price is a crucial factor. How much do you have to pay your agency for a sitter? You may have to pay an initial fee whether or not you finally decide to get a sitter from them. Some agencies have non-refundable initial fees. You then have to pay for a placement fee. This amount covers the costs for agency services include background checks. In some cases you may have to pay extra for transportation costs. Once you have your sitter, you have to pay her an agreed sum every month.

You may have to spend a bit more with an agency than if you try looking for a sitter yourself. If you think about it though, the cost may be worth every penny. Just think about it as paying a large amount for the safety of your kids.

MS Office Passwords and Password Recovery Programs

If you have a computer and are connected to the Internet then your computer is at risk of having files stolen. While most of the files you have may be innocuous, if there is any personal information in them such as birthdays, social insurance numbers or financial data then you will want to make sure this information is protect from prying eyes. The easiest way to do this is to password protect your documents.

By placing a password on your important files you are ensuring that your documents are safe from those who would seek to exploit it, such as identity thieves. If you own a company you will want to do the same for your financial information as well as and documents that contain info about your clients. While you may not think it is important now, if the data should ever get stolen you will be thankful for it.

Now that we have covered how to keep your documents safe, what happens if you lose or forget the passwords? Obviously you dont want to use the same password on every document ” if someone ever guessed the password then all of your files would be at risk. At the same time using a different password every time will make it difficult to remember. Odds are at some point in time you are going to lose a password and need to access your files.

No matter how careful you are though, it is likely that at some point you will forget or lose a password for a file. Fortunately there are programs available to help you get back into your files. Password recovery tools in the form of a software program can systematically attempt to access the file using a wide variety of methods.

Initially the program will try to open your document using a combination of letters and number to see if it can guess the right password. This may work to gain entry into your files, but if you used a long or complex password that includes a variety of characters and symbols it may not succeed.

To start the program will work through the dictionary, combining each word with numbers or symbols if you request. If your password is an actually word, then you should have some luck here. Otherwise the software recovery tool will carry on to the next step, which is to try combinations of letters, numbers and symbols until it finds the right combination. The more complicated your password is, the longer the program will take to find the answer.

Finally the password recovery software can simply disable the password protection on the file. This is where you want to be careful, as once the password protection is removed then your files are again in danger. Ensure you quickly protect them again once you have got in, and remember the password this time!

Once you have recovered your files, you may want to consider an alternate method keeping track of your passwords so you dont forget them. If you have a mobile or PDA and you can password protect it, then it may be a good place to keep keys to your important files. That way your passwords are close by, but not linked to your computer.

When you are password protecting your file, think about saving your password in a secure document that uses one password to open but includes all your passwords. This way is very easy to remember and not very complicated to open if you do. This way there is never a moment where you cant open a document or file.

Retractable Badge Holders In The Corporate World

Corporate executives to small business managers alike all have a very large schedule. They have many things to maintain and keep up to date so that their business stays afloat. Making sure there is enough money for everyone to get paid and for them to make a profit is usually top priority. While there are so many things that they have to focus one, there is something that is often forgotten - appearance.

Regardless of your line of work you should always look your best. Looking your best tells your customers that your company is professional and dedicated to quality. One way to accomplish this look is to establish a dress code. What would the dress code entail? A common dress code includes a dress shirt, tie, dress shoes, and a company ID containing the employee’s photo.

Your company’s id card speaks a lot about your company. That is why you should not wear the same in a casual way. Moreover, it should speak for itself.

For instance, you can buy badge reels as they not only reveal your identity, but also your company’s name. They are also important for security reasons. And of course, they do look give you a professional look.

Badge reels are available in different shapes, sizes and colors to match your dress code. You can invest in badge reels that complement your dress color and your personality.

You may be skeptical as to how a badge reel will hold up over time. You should know that badge reels are widely used in many countries and businesses. They are even durable enough for construction sites. A benefit of badge reels over regular card holders is they are designed with a reinforced chord that is commonly eighteen inches long and they are capable of retracting when not in use. These benefits overcome dirt and the potential for a badge to become lost.

You do not even have to worry about losing (or misplacing) your badge as you can fix it to your belt. As it has an access string, you can show your identification time and again without any hassles.

However the badge reel does not only benefit the employers, but also the employees. Many employees have suffered the id card tear. This is from the cheap id card holders that have to be stuck through their shirts with a pin to stay in place. With a bump, getting caught on even the smallest items, or an unsuccessful unlatching, they cause unsightly tears in shirts of even the thickest and best quality.

If your goals are to increase the professional image of your company, utilize security systems, and make your employees happy then a badge reel might be for you. They will build a community of cohesiveness and they make employees proud to represent the company. Employees will no longer have to worry about tearing their shirt or wearing a lopsided badge. The badge reel will give employees confidence and allow the employee to display the company’s name on top of their own.

The Best Way To Protect Your Id Card

December 24, 2008 by Jack Blake · Comment

When I was working at a call center for a telephone company, they issued out badges. The badge holder that I used was the Proximity Card Badge Holder. I had it attached to a retractable device, so I could keep it attached to my clothing without having to worry about losing it.

This badge holder was durable and lasted well. Even with all the use I put it to, I never experienced any issues with it over the course of a year. I generally kept it in either my purse or pocket, along with various other things, and it never became damaged.

My supervisor carried the same badge holder model, which lasted for three years or more. He was much rougher on the badge holder than I was, and despite all the wear and tear, his badge holder held up well. The badge holder was useful to him because when he went on business trips, he still had to carry his badge with him, but because of the holder, he never once lost the badge.

I also love the fact that the badge holders are translucent. We would scan our badges to get into the building, and it was really nice not having to take my badge out to get into the building. I would just hold the badge up to the scanner, and I was instantly allowed in the building. If it weren’t for having such a nice badge holder, I probably would have had to go through security, and that was a time consuming thing to do.

The great part about the Proximity Badge Card Holder is the price. My supervisor has ordered many badges at cost and said they are the only brand he purchases. We are employed by a large company and it is great when we can find such a good product at a reasonable price. If I owned my own business the only badge card holder I would use is the Proximity Card Badge Holder. My personal experience with the holder has been positive and I believe my employees would tend to agree. Because the holder is so thin and durable it is even able to be scanned through a badge reader.

One of the best things regarding the badge holder is you don’t have to worry about losing your badge because it is secured to you. Even when the badge holder is placed upside down there is no concern that I might lose by badge. Due to the high costs associated with replacing a badge it leaves me with a little less to be concerned about. The holder also protects your badge from blowing away in the wind when walking to your car in windy weather. There would be no concern on my part that someone would be able to use my badge to break into the building and compromise the computers. This would put me in hot water and fortunately it hasn’t happened due to the reliability of my badge holder.
